STLS

This qualification provides learners with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. It covers all aspects of specialist support including planning; delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher; bilingual support; special needs support; and personal development and reflective practice.

As learners need to show competence in both skills and knowledge, they will need to be working or be on a practical placement during the taught programme of study in a learning environment (school or college).

The Level 3 Diploma has been allocated UCAS points. Please refer to the UCAS website for further details of the points allocation and the most up to date information.

Learners can progress onto the Level 4 Certificate for the Advanced Practitioner in Schools and Colleges, a foundation degree or specialist roles within the workforce

 

Delivery

This qualification is offered through two different training options. The course duration is 12 -18 months depending on experience and previous qualifications. 

Option one – apprenticeship

Apprenticeship funding is available for this qualification. You will be funded through our apprenticeship funding partner SS&L and all training is delivered by the Tigers Training Centre team. 

Working with your assessor and tutor you will use our e-portfolio and online training system. You will meet with your assessor monthly to complete your Diploma in Supporting Teaching and learning to meet the requirements for the Apprenticeship Standard.

Option two – standalone qualification

The diploma can be completed as a standalone qualification rather than an apprenticeship which can be paid for by the learner or employer.

Working with your assessor and tutor you will use our e-portfolio and online training system. You will meet with your assessor monthly to complete your Diploma in Supporting Teaching and learning.
